MERCURY COMICS
When long-time client and IWS evangelist Sal Abbinanti decided to create his
own comic book, he knew just where to turn to for internet strategy and
marketing. “Iws was the only consideration for me, they’ve done great things
for me for years and I don’t have any other vendor I trust like IWS.”
In the summer of 2004, Sal Abbinanti, had finally decided that it was time
to tell his own stories. “I love comics, they’ve been my life. And I felt
that I had a story to tell that hadn’t been told. So, I started drawing and
plotting out Atomika.” Atomika: God is Red is set in an alternate universe.
The main character, Atomika is the God of the twentieth century. The story
begins in the Soviet Union in 1934. All religion has been deemed
counter-productive to the state and outlawed. Technology has become god and
Atomika is the embodiment of that spirit.
“When you elect to do a comic outside of the mainstream of Marvel and DC,
marketing yourself and your book are the keys to success. There are dozens
of great independent comics out there but the public is generally unaware of
them. The Atomika web site had to look and feel as professional as the
Atomika book does. I’m pulling out all of the stops with this book and I
knew IWS would do the same to ensure that I had a web site that would take
this to new levels,” said Abbinanti.
Set to be solicited for the first time in January of 2005, Atomika is
already creating quite a buzz. “I’m very thankful that the trade press has
been very kind to me and the book,” said Abbinanti, “every day I’m getting
contacted by someone who came to the web site, read about the book and is
looking to get a copy of it. I’m very optimistic right now and the launch
really couldn’t be going any smoother. The Atomika web site is currently
receiving nearly 4,000 visitors each month after just two short months
online.
