GPSEG is a non-profit professional association of senior-level executives
providing meaningful senior-level networking contacts to their members;
supporting their members who are in career transition; shared knowledge,
best practices, and resources; education to members on topics of interest to
their professional and career development; and developing cooperative
programs with other professional organizations in the region. Greater
Philadelphia Senior Executive Group (GPSEG) was founded by Chris Pavlides in
May, 2002. In the pursuit of a more meaningful and efficient networking
formula for senior executives. From a humble beginning of 13 executives,
GPSEG has grown to more than 1,000 members from Pennsylvania, New Jersey,
Delaware and many other states.
Integrated Web Solutions was contacted in 2004 to help GPSEG retool their
existing web site based on their experience designing and building web sites
for professional networking organizations. "For an organization such as
GPSEG, their web site is really second only to the personal interaction
within the group in terms of adding value to their members," said John
Schwarberg, President of Integrated Web Solutions. "In effect, the web site
needs to handle almost every administrative function you can think of:
meeting scheduling, new member applications, member communication, the
promotion of member business, financial transactions, really the list is
quite extensive. The internet and the use of a web site really makes all of
this possible whereas so much of this sort of immediacy in communication
over a user base would have been nearly impossible before."
The extensive task of planning the site began after a face-to-face meeting
with GPSEG leadership. Online discussion amongst members with an archival
history was implemented via a listserv software. E-commerce capability was
put into place to allow for membership fees and meeting fees to be collected
and all renewal fees to be processed online. The entire membership
application process is now done online. An online calendar was implemented
allowing members to view, schedule and register for meetings. Finally, a
lightweight and flexible content management tool was put into place in order
to facilitate web site maintenance and upkeep by members and administrative
staff.
"There was a considerable amount of work done initially on the web site
without question but the result, I feel, has helped enable GPSEG to become
one of the fastest growing groups of its kind in the nation. Their growth
over the last few years has been explosive and their utilization of the web
site and the communication amongst members that it fosters is invaluable,"
said Schwarberg. "Our relationship with GPSEG has been terrific in that we
see how the work we do impacts the organization and its success on a
month-to-month basis. We look forward to continuing to help them enable
their own success by listening to their needs and advising them on further
phased development."
