ANGEL MEDINA
Angel Medina is undoubtedly one of the most talented artist in the comics
industry today. His work on Todd McFarlane's Spawn comic as well as his
twisted caricature style is appreciated and revered among his fans, comic
publishers and industry professionals alike.
In August of 2004, Integrated Web Solutions was approached to do a massive
facelift and update on Angel's web site. "The site traffic on Angel’s site
grows by 5-10% each month thanks to all the fans Angel has. But the site was
getting sort of stale and some of the content needed to be refreshed,
updated and in some cases improved," said Sal Abbinanti, Angel Medina's
artist representative.
Inspired by Angel’s artwork, IWS set about to overhaul the site from the
ground up implementing DHTML technology so as to provide a more
browser-friendly and artistically heavy feel. “It was critical to us, as it
always is, when we work with comic artists, that their artwork’s style be
accentuated and we let the art do the talking. This isn’t about our design,
it’s about the artists’ work,” said John Schwarberg, IWS Creative Director.
IWS rescanned many of the original images and improved image quality and
size. They also livened up the homepage with a number of rotating images and
added a section for artwork that is available for sale to the public.
"This is the type of web site I always wanted to have but really didn’t
believe could be accomplished,” said Medina “This site has really inspired
me as to what can be done. Now, I’ve got all sorts of ideas bouncing around
in my head about future enhancements and further contact with my fans. These
folks are the reason I do what I do and anything I can give back to them,
well, I’m all about that."
Launched in November of 2004, Angel Medina’s web site receives over 17,000
visitors per month.
